In good academic writing, the ideas are unified, contributing to a clear overall picture. This is true of both the whole text and each paragraph.
Coherent text
- A clear and logical structure
- A clear argument or purpose
- Adequate development of the argument
Coherent paragraphs
- A clear topic sentence
- Adequate development of the topic sentence
